Dementia Friendly Alabama, with the help of Central Alabama Aging Consortium and AMES, INC, has purchased several robotic companion pets now available to support those with dementia and their caregivers! These pets are designated for seniors in Montgomery, Autauga, and Elmore counties that have Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.

Feel the warmth and love of a pet, without the mess or responsibility.

Robotic companion pets have been shown to have remarkable effects on seniors with dementia. They are calming, soothing, and can assist in deterring negative behaviors. Inspired by real cats and dogs, these robotic pets look, feel, and sound like the real thing! Each pet responds to petting, hugging and motion much like the real ones you know and love but don’t require any special care or feeding. Your pet will react to the sound of your voice, too!

Caregivers must complete survey before receiving their loved one’s pet and will be required to complete two follow-up surveys within the next six months. Click below to receive a survey!
