Advocacy

Elder Justice

CAAC seeks to empower, protect, and advocate on behalf of the area’s aging population. We also provide education and outreach to seniors, their caregivers, professionals and the general public on the rights of elders, elder abuse and prevention of elder abuse.

Legal

For those individuals ages 60+, legal assistance is available with non-criminal matters such as wills, powers of attorney, advance directives, entitlement programs, housing, debt collection, exploitation, consumer issues, and defense of guardianship.

Ombudsman

Ombudsmen advocate for residents of nursing homes, boarding homes, and assisted living facilities. Ombudsmen work to improve the quality of life of residents by investigating complaints made by or for residents of long-term care facilities, educating consumers and long-term care providers about residents’ rights and good care practices, and promoting community involvement through volunteer opportunities and services.

SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol)

The Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) helps beneficiaries identify, detect, and prevent health care fraud. In doing so, individuals protect themselves and help preserve the integrity of the Medicare program.
